Ian Lawless – Challenge to Miscarriage of Justice Compensation

It is confirmed that the Hearing of Ian Lawless’s challenge to the miscarriage of justice compensation scheme refusal is fixed to be heard before the Administrative Court on 8th March 2012 at the Royal Courts of Justice .

Mr Lawless had his conviction for murder quashed in June 2009 following the acceptance by the Court of Appeal that the only evidence against him – that of his own confessions were wholly unreliable – the appeal was not opposed by the Crown .

It will be argued that the Secretary of State’s refusal to pay Mr Lawless compensation is wholly wrong and does not comply with the recent guidance issued by the Supreme Court in the decision of Adams .

A Full Report will be issued following the outcome of the case .
